Standard 5: Assessment of Student Learning
Physical education candidates select and implement appropriate assessments to monitor students’ progress and guide decision making related to instruction and learning.
5a.
Select or create authentic, formal assessments that measure student attainment of short- and long- term objectives.
***Here are two of my students participating in an assessment where they had to come up with their own examples for each of the Fitnessgram components (Flexibility, Muscular Endurance, Muscular Strength, Cardiovascular Endurance).

5b.
***Here is a sportfolio that I had to create for archery. Included here are formative assessments, as well as a summative assessment. I believe this sportfolio could be used to throughout a unit that would highly assist the students with achieving the long-term and short-term objectives set for the unit.

Implement formative assessments that monitor student learning before and throughout the long-term plan, as well as summative assessments that evaluate student learning upon completion of the long-term plan.
|
5c.
Implement a reflective cycle to guide decision making specific to candidate performance, student learning, and short- and long- term plan objectives.
***I truly believe it is important to not only give assessments, but also how to use those assessments to enhance student learning. Here I created a Fitness Bingo game(not shown). I put all the exercises that we did on index cards. I put each Fitnessgram component in its own area around the gym. The students had to work together as a class to put each exercise under the correct component. I also timed them and watched which exercises they had the most conversation about. I made sure that the ones they struggled with the most, that I implemented them in more activities we did so that they would be able to think more quickly when they see it again. Additionally, when I listened to them work together, I listened to their rationales and made sure to correct their thought processes.
